Meet Your Inspector

David Lightner, Chief Inspector, has worked in many areas in construction over the years that led to his career as an Inspector. David first started his long career in residential and commercial construction after he was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps in 1985. He started as a laborer being in the trenches, setting forms, running pipe, foundations) and over time worked his way up to senior carpenter (rough framing to completion). Whether it was condominiums, custom homes, renovations, additions or commercial buildings, David has built it.

David always had a passion for woodworking and decided his next step would be fine woodworking. David feels fortunate to have had true master craftsmen’s teach him the fine art of architectural woodworking. As a journeymen cabinetmaker, most of the projects David worked on where for major Firms, Hotels, Restaurants, Sport Venues and Universities in NY/NJ.

David still creates fine woodworking pieces for his family and friends.

With years of building experience and after seeing first hand what some builder's have neglected to do properly, David realized the importance of a home inspection. After a lot of long nights and hard work, David received his state home inspector license. Home Pride, Home Inspection Services, LLC has developed into a well-known and respected home inspection company serving all Central New Jersey.

Independent Home Inspector

David promotes a high standard of professionalism, business ethics and inspection procedures. He subscribes to the “Code of Ethics” of the International Association of Home Inspectors and the New Jersey “Standards of Practice”.

Most of David’s business comes from past client referrals and the internet. He does not rely on realtors or any other business for leads. Unlike most inspectors, David does not pay to be on a realtor “preferred” vendor list. Being on this list would be a conflict of interest for you, the client. He does not need to worry about upsetting a realtor with a tough report. Some agents do refer clients to David because they know he is thorough, picky and takes his time to explain his findings and how to maintain your home. A true professional would want the very best for their client.

David enjoys being a home inspector and sharing his knowledge with his clients. From the first contact with him, through the inspection delivery and explanation of your report, you will experience the ultimate in professionalism.

Continued Education

New Jersey Home Inspection Advisory Committee requires home inspectors to meet a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education per year for licensing. David exceeds this minimum by attending:

  • New Jersey Association of Professional Home Inspectors monthly training meetings and seminars.
  • New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection as a Radon Measurement Technician; meets yearly re-certification requirements.
  • Meeting International Association of Certified Home Inspectors continuing education requirements; a member in good standing.
  • Meeting International Association of Indoor Air Consultants continuing education requirements; a member in good standing.

With new building products being developed and used in our homes, David attends manufactures seminars and workshops so he can get a better understanding of the products being used.
